From the Director
Hello Mav Band and Guard Family!
The last several weeks have seen this group grow more than we have experienced in previous years and we are all optimistic about the rest of the season! Thank you to all of the students for your efforts and to all of the parents for getting them here. Below is very important information and HERE are next week's announcements.
MARCH-A-THON UPDATE: We are about halfway to our budgeted goal of $50,000! Thank you to everyone who has done their part in bringing donations. If you haven't received the $300 in contributions, then please continue to contact people so we can be able to offer our students a top-notch experience. Simply send them to give.mcneilband.org.
WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS!!!! A generous donor has offered a $5000 donation match to help us meet our goal!! Let's make this happen THIS WEEKEND! With a little work on your part, we can get a lot closer to our goal in a short amount of time. We will take all non-electronic payments at school. Please send them in a sealed envelope to Mr. Dimiceli with the student's name on the outside.
Let all donors know they are invited to our special March-A-Thon performance of the show on September 17th at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex.
STUDENT TRAVEL: We have several trips planned for the year and McNeil will be seen around the country. Some are performance-based trips and include particular ensembles, but everyone in the program will have an opportunity to attend at least one of them. There is room for parents on every trip and we will need chaperone help.
Indianapolis, IN: The Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble have both been invited to perform at the Music For All National Festival. This trip is from March 29 - April 3, 2023. All members of these groups must attend the trip, and the Band Boosters have committed to subsidizing the cost for each student. We will also organize a fundraiser for students if they want to participate. We will have a mandatory meeting on August 24th to discuss this trip, so please make arrangements to attend. It is recommended that families start putting money aside now for this trip.
Dayton, OH: The Varsity Winterguard will once again compete in the WGI World Championships! All Varsity members must attend this trip and JV students are invited as well. The trip is from April 12 - 16, 2023, and the Band Boosters have committed to subsidizing the cost for each student. We will also organize a fundraiser for students if they want to participate. More information is coming soon, but please start putting aside funds now to pay for this trip.
Dallas: The Spring Band Trip will be in April as well and I will send details once I have final approval. This is not a performance-based trip and everyone in the program is invited to attend. We will have a lot of fun together and create fantastic memories. Students will miss school on a Friday and come home on Sunday.
