Announcements from the Director 5/6/2021

Hello Mav Band and Guard Families!

We have a lot going on as we wrap up this year and prepare for the next. We have some final events of the year and some housekeeping things to take care of. Attending concerts requires extra steps on your part, so please read every part of this email carefully.

CONCERTS: YES!, we can actually have live, in-person concerts now! Please read carefully about ticketing because you will only be allowed into the auditorium if you show your tickets (either printed or on your phone). All of our performances are open to the general public (with tickets, of course).

Percussion Concert, May 13 @ 7:00 PM in the Hartfield Performing Arts Center (FLYER ATTACHED)

This concert will feature soloists and three percussion ensembles. This event will be different than you have seen in the past and we invite everyone to come and see these students perform! You are REQUIRED to get your FREE TICKETS HERE.

Spring Band Concert, May 20 @ 7:00 PM in the Hartfield Performing Arts Center

We will feature the two bands who have been playing together this semester and we will feature the winner of our Solo Competition! You are REQUIRED to get your FREE TICKETS HERE.

Audience Expectations

  • Reserve your complimentary ticket online for the appropriate performance.  Note: Only attendees with a printed or electronic ticket displayed on their device will be allowed to enter the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center.  There will be no on-site ticketing.

  • Masks must be worn by each attendee while inside the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center.  Social distancing of 6ft. is employed throughout the facility and performance.

  • Seat your party with four seats (6ft.) between you and others not in your immediate household to maintain social distancing.

  • The lobby is closed and attendees may not gather inside the lobby.

  • Thank you for helping Fine Arts keep our community safe and healthy.  For additional Fine Arts COVID information, visit finearts.roundrockisd.org

INSTRUMENT / EQUIPMENT RETURN AND CHECK OUT

SENIORS will return any school-owned equipment on May 24th when you come to campus for the Senior Celebration between 3:00-6:00. All other students with equipment owned by the band program will be turned in on May 25th between 2:00 and 5:00, or during your final exam period.

Instrument check-out for the summer will begin after graduation once the directors have had time to process every instrument and assign its new player. Please stay tuned for that announcement in the BAND APP!!!

If you will be in our program next year and have not joined the McNeil HS Band group, then you should do it NOW! It is required for all students. Parents are encouraged to join the McNeil Band Parent/Guardian group. Please use only your real name so we know how to contact you individually when needed.

REHEARSAL FOR STUDENTS IN NEXT YEAR'S BAND

We have an outdoor rehearsal on Tuesday, May 18 from 5:15 - 7:15 for everyone in next year’s marching band. This will be an introduction and you will not need your instruments. Wear athletic clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, and bring water!

IMPORTANT: Please get used to checking our band calendar for all future rehearsals and events. Our expectation is for everyone to keep up with our calendar on their own. It is a live calendar, so I recommend adding it to your own calendar app so you automatically receive our updates.

END-OF-YEAR GATHERINGS!!!

BAND BANQUET: May 21 @ 6:00 on the Marching Band Rehearsal Pad

We are excited to be able to celebrate in person! Of course, masks are required unless actively eating or drinking, and social distancing is required between families. We welcome EVERY current McNeil Band family to attend.

Seniors: Your deadline to get your banquet videos to Emma is tomorrow!

NO COST OF ADMISSION

Bring your own seating

Bring your own food

Ceremony will begin after you get a chance to socialize, around 7:00

ANNUAL SENIOR PARTY IS BACK!: May 22

Although I wish we could do this at my home like in previous years, it is safer to do this outside in a larger space. Some senior parents have organized an event specifically for our senior students and we hope all of you can attend.

We have official invitations for each senior and we will distribute them to those attending after-school rehearsals. If you do not have plans to come to campus then please reach out to Emma Duncan to figure out the best way for you to get yours.

Sincerely,

Jason Dimiceli
